Gear for the left seat.
Kneeboards, IFR foggles and navigation tools for student pilots. Built to stay on your leg and still be readable after a season in the flight bag.
Amazon customer ratings as of October 2026.
- Strong metal clip holds a full notepad flat through turbulence.
- VFR quick reference printed on the face: light gun signals, transponder codes, weather minimums.
- 1.5 in elastic strap with hook-and-loop keeps the board on your thigh, not the floor.
Four things that live in a student's flight bag.
All four ship with Prime.

Rotating Plotter

Kneeboard Strap
A 1.5 in replacement leg strap that fits most kneeboards. Wide enough that it doesn't dig in.
See the strap →Sized for small trainers.
Aluminum, sized for small cockpits
A rigid board gives you a real writing surface on your leg, and the 5.5 × 8 in footprint clears the yoke in a 172, a Cherokee or an LSA.
Frosted where it counts
The foggles' upper lens is frosted to block the view outside. Glance down and the panel is clear. Lighter and easier to stow than a full hood.
Honest labels
The FAA doesn't certify view-limiting devices or kneeboards, so we don't print "certified" on anything. We say what the gear does. The reviews are on Amazon if you want a second opinion.
You lose the horizon, not the panel.
Instrument training means flying by the gauges while a safety pilot or instructor watches outside. Foggles frost your view out the windscreen and leave the panel clear when you look down.
Flip the switch to see the idea. It works the same way in the airplane: there's nothing outside to cheat with, so you fly the scan.

The student pilot's gear guide.
What to bring to your first lesson, what the light gun signals mean, how to plot a course in three moves, and when you'll actually need foggles.
- Before lesson one: the short list, and what can wait.
- Solo: light gun signals and transponder codes you should know cold.
- Cross-country: true course to magnetic in one line.
- Hood time: the hours you'll log and who can be your safety pilot.

Why do you sell through Amazon?
Amazon gets gear to most US students in a day or two with Prime, and returns are simple. Every "Buy" button on this site goes to our official Destination Departure listing, sold by Destination Departure and fulfilled by Amazon.
Which foggles should I get?
Both have the same frosted polycarbonate lenses and adjustable fit. The white pair comes with a soft case. The black premium pair comes with a rigid hard case, so it's the better choice if your foggles ride loose in a flight bag.
Will the kneeboard fit my cockpit?
The board is 5.5 × 8 in, sized for compact trainers like the Cessna 152 and 172, Piper Cherokee and Warrior, and light sport aircraft. It also works for home flight-sim setups.
Do you sell to flight schools?
Yes. We supply student welcome kits and volume orders. Tell us about your school and we'll send a sample.
